Great Joy

“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” (Luke 2:10)

This great news of salvation has come to all people. Not just the Jews, religious, or spiritual people. It is available to “all who call upon His name” and this fact alone could be the source of the great joy, that I, the worst of sinners am eligible to receive this salvation. The great joy is much deeper and richer then the simple fact that it is in fact available to all, it’s not as small as a momentary glimpse of hope for the outsider, or a warm feeling for the lonely. It is news of sin forever forgiven, cleansing, righteousness, and being set apart as holy and blameless. This great news which was coming at the birth of Christ meant hell subdued, restrained, no longer able to hold fear over us, chains broken and satan defeated. News that reaches far into eternity, making peace on our behalf with God[1]. Good news indeed, that brings Great joy!

“The joyful news of sins forgiven, of hell subdued, and peace with heaven”[2]
